The Washington County Historical Society sees technology as a crucial tool for fulfilling its mission in the 21st century. Technology enables the Society to use its resources more effectively, organize its extensive holdings, and reach out to members and the public.
The Society is looking for experienced volunteers to serve on its technology committee. The committee will:
We're looking for a diverse committee, including both individuals with technology administration experience, as well as those with technical skills involving computers or networking.
Commitment: During the initial inventory/evaluation project, monthly meetings. Later, meetings will be held at a frequency to be determined by the committee.

The Washington County Historical Society is looking for a team of volunteers to share duties related to the maintenance and expansion of its Web site, wchsmn.org. Producers should be experienced in site maintenance: editing HTML, preparing images for the Web, and editing copy as necessary. Volunteers with special expertise would be useful to the committee. For example, those knowledgeable in scripting languages like Perl or PHP, relational Web databases like MySQL, or audio/video/Flash production would be great additions. Volunteers should be able to work as part of a group and be dependable, but will also be given the opportunity to work individually on projects of interest.
Commitment: Occasional Web team organizational meetings, reliable performance of production duties according to a schedule to be worked out among team members.
