Her program will include the history of the O’Brien Family\, the history of the Copas area\, and the changes to the boundaries of the park as they added new parcels of land. \nFree! In person only. No registration required. \nAbout William O’Brien State Park: \nThe park’s namesake comes from a lumber baron\, William O’Brien\, who owned the land prior to passing it on to his daughter\, Alice. There is much\, much more! \nExtra excitement will be the vintage baseball at the Lions Park next to the Hay Lake School. Vintage Baseball\, played by the rules of 1860\, will start at 2pm and go until 4pm. The reigning Minnesota Vintage Baseball champions\, the St. Croix Base Ball Club\, will be playing against several other clubs for the enjoyment and education of the crowds that will be there. Kyle Te Poel is a birder and photographer\, and runs Next Bend Birding Tours.\nSince 2008\, Kyle Te Poel has worked in Minnesota\, Maine\, and California as a naturalist\, educator\, park ranger\, and in-the-field bird/environmental researcher. Te Poel has worked with several organizations including the National Park Service\, Sierra Club\, and National Audubon Society.\n \nHe has served as a tour guide at bird festivals\, and have provided lectures\, classes\, and special programming for numerous organizations.\nTe Poel has a master’s degree in outdoor education. He began developing and leading his own tours in 2008\, launching his own touring business in 2016.
